Oatmeal is Chris’s favorite breakfast foods so much so that we eat it almost 6 days a week ! It is quick to prepare, balanced and very healthy because it has fiber in the form of fruits, low-glycemic index carbohydrates in old fashioned oats and protein in the form of pecans. This basic recipe is all you need to get started … add as many fruits and nuts as you like.
Half cup old fashioned oats
Half cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries)
Half ripe banana sliced
6-8 pecans or walnuts
Half cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 cup water
1. Cook the oats with the water in the microwave for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in the fruits and nuts.
3. Stir in the the milk until the oatmeal is creamy and the consistency you like.
A perfect healthy breakfast is ready !
